A Tribute to Nat White
MRE Winemakers -James, Linda and Nat, February 2026
For decades, Nat and Rosalie were the heart and soul of Main Ridge Estate. What began in 1975 as a vision for a small family vineyard grew into one of the region’s most respected cool-climate wine estates and helped establish the Mornington Peninsula as a world-class wine region.
Many of you will have known Nat personally. Others may have met him in the cellar door, seen him walking through the vineyard, or simply enjoyed the wines and hospitality that reflected his values of authenticity, generosity and quiet excellence.
When we became custodians of Main Ridge Estate in 2015, we inherited far more than a vineyard and winery. We inherited Nat and Rosalie’s remarkable legacy, and over the years we have been fortunate to enjoy their friendship, wisdom and unwavering support.
When faced with a winemaking challenge, I still find myself thinking, ‘What would Nat do?’
Nat’s legacy lives on in the vineyard he planted, the wines that bear his influence, and the enduring culture of care, quality and hospitality that remains at the heart of Main Ridge Estate.
