Thoughts from a small vineyard

While the world is going through tumultuous changes, here at Main Ridge Estate we are maintaining the traditions of making fine wine, and providing friendly family hospitality at the cellar door.

In that spirit, weekend lunches have returned! We are very pleased with the positive response to our light summer menu, and we will continue to offer weekend lunch on the sun deck until Easter.

Vintage is looking to be late this year given the cool and wet Spring, with picking possibly delayed to early April, for the first time in 5 years. Good vineyard management during a longer ripening period has resulted in some wonderful wines in the past, and we are very hopeful of a similar result this time around!

On that note, I would like to acknowledge the efforts and support to my family by Main Ridge Estate veteran Linda Hodges.  It is often said that great wine is made in the vineyard. Linda’s tireless work over the past 15 years, caring for the vineyard as if it was her own, has contributed to the production of fruit of consistent exceptional quality.

Respecting the heritage of Main Ridge Estate is of great importance to my family and our customers constantly ask about our history.  With that in mind, we  recently compiled a timeline of highlights with Nat and Rosalie White of the past 40 plus years, and this is located on our website here.

Following our sold out wine dinners and concert events in 2016, we are pleased to announce our 2017 events. Click here for more details and hope you can join us!

For those looking for an additional bottle of our much sought after Half Acre Pinot Noir, we are releasing the final 100 bottles as part of a 2015 Main Ridge Estate vintage 6 pack. We are also releasing our ever popular Pinot Meunier, which comes from the usual single barrel!
